the love of my life

February 10, 2010

i really enjoy the company of my cat, stormy. he’s a 3-year-old scottish fold and comes equipped with the most utterly vacuous expressions on his little face. this crosshatching is based on a photo i snapped of him while he was nestled atop my chest.

male nude #7

February 10, 2010

i showed up to the drop-in class once more (about 2 months later) and by chance, the same model was there. still, he is very trim & fit and fun to draw.

male nude #6

February 10, 2010

i was so excited to hear that the local arts council offered a drop-in figure drawing class for a paltry $12 (for three hours!). i had decided to forego the smudgy, messy chalk pastels, opting for prismacolors as my medium instead, and was pleased with the result.

food on the brain

February 10, 2010

the first drawing was done to commemorate a potluck hosted by my friends (i neglected to take  a proper picture). the second – well, i just like sushi, ok?

autumn abstracts

February 10, 2010

just a couple of abstracts done with painted leaves from the yard in autumn, 2008.

paint by number

February 10, 2010

i’ve always been enamored with paint by number kits, and wanted to create one of my own. this was so fun to do, and is left open to interpretation as to which colors should be used in the color key.

ink, ink, baby.

February 10, 2010

back in 2005/2006, i went through an ink phase – using calligraphy ink and a very skinny, long-bristled brush.

depressing

February 10, 2010

a couple of dreary works; 1 painting, 1 oil pastel drawing, 1 mixed media with clay and wax. post-college.

drippy paintings

February 10, 2010

a couple of drippy paintings (could it be that i’m trying to stretch my paint budget by adding water? perhaps!)

several vibrant paintings done during college, some incorporating mixed media (my beloved thyme plant in the first one; magazine clippings and photocopy of my hand in the second).
