creepy cat x 4

July 19, 2010

i did this series of tech pen drawings of my cat, stormy, after moving back to LA and realizing I need more cohesive artwork on the walls.

cat #1 is stippled, cat #2 is scribbled, cat #3 is vertical hatching, cat #4 is a topography-like scribble (please click the image to enlarge). all were based on a single photo taken of stormy 2 days before we moved back.

Here is a charcoal drawing of 3 fruit bats on a giant leaf. Also a prismacolor drawing of a chameleon, a 1st anniversary present. It took much longer than expected…

chameleon

i made these amigurumi food items for my friends, who all loved them. the fish taco and banana were made without the assistance of a pattern, but i think they still turned out adorable.

the cactus has got to be one of my all-time favorite amigurumi creations. the other thing is a venus flytrap, which didn’t turn out so well because usually there are more than one of them in the pot. the pig is angry!

i love making these little amigurumi items. the (life size) phallus was a gift for a friend and the toaster is around here somewhere..

the love of my life

i really enjoy the company of my cat, stormy. he’s a 3-year-old scottish fold and comes equipped with the most utterly vacuous expressions on his little face. this crosshatching is based on a photo i snapped of him while he was nestled atop my chest.

male nude #7

i showed up to the drop-in class once more (about 2 months later) and by chance, the same model was there. still, he is very trim & fit and fun to draw.

male nude #6

i was so excited to hear that the local arts council offered a drop-in figure drawing class for a paltry $12 (for three hours!). i had decided to forego the smudgy, messy chalk pastels, opting for prismacolors as my medium instead, and was pleased with the result.

food on the brain

the first drawing was done to commemorate a potluck hosted by my friends (i neglected to take  a proper picture). the second – well, i just like sushi, ok?
